Hungry Girl chews and tells the latest diet-friendly treats

Thursday, April 24th 2008, 4:00 AM

Lisa (Hungry Girl) Lillien is back with her "chew & tell" reviews ...

Strawberry Chex Cereal

PER SERVING (3/4 cup): 130 calories, 2g fat, 200mg sodium, 26g carbs, 1g fiber, 8g sugar, 2g protein

As some already know, I'm not a cereal freak. My general feeling is that you need too much of it to fill you up, and it often makes you hungrier. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule (hello, Fiber One!). The new Strawberry Chex is insanely good and worth seeking out. It tastes a lot like Strawberry Nesquik, which I love. This cereal is light, crunchy and completely strawberrylicious. It's also packed with whole grains, vitamins and minerals. Rather than eat a giant bowlful of the stuff, though, I've been crushing it up by the handful and sprinkling it on fat-free vanilla yogurt. AWESOME!

Fiber One Bread, Cinnamon Raisin

PER SERVING (2 slices): 140 calories, 1.5g fat, 160mg sodium, 32g carbs, 8g fiber, 11g sugar, 4g protein

Wow, this breads is good. It's dense, chewy and sooooo delicious! There's really nothing else like this cinnamon raisin bread out there. It's sweet, doughy and packed with raisins and cinnamon - yet still reasonable in the nutritional department (not to mention loaded with fiber!).

Metromint Chocolatemint Water

PER SERVING (8 ounces): 0 calories, 0g fat, 0mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, 0g protein

I never thought I'd like this stuff! Not only am I not a fan of mint-flavored water, but I also don't really like chocolate mint anything that much. Typically, it's just a waste of calories, because the mint tends to overpower the chocolate (in my opinion). This water, however, is calorie-free, so that isn't an issue. Even better, it tastes great! Also, there's no fake chocolate flavor - just a mild hint of cocoa with lovely cool mint overtones. Yay!

Pizzettos, Simply Crust

PER SERVING (1.5 ounces): 170 calories, 3.5g fat, 450mg sodium, 30g carbs, 2g fiber, 1g sugar, 5g protein

These little pizza crisps are unique and yummy. They're crazy-crunchy and a bit like pita chips, with a pizza crust flavor (they're actually made from real pizza dough). They come in both single-serving and multiple-serving bags. Thing is, they're so good you'll want to eat the whole bag - no matter what size it is - especially if you have a soft spot for crispy snacks. The other flavors (Original Pizza and Sweet Hickory Barbeque) are good, but the Simply Crust is the best. Again, if you have trouble controlling yourself around crunchy carbs, beware of these. Available at pizzettos.com.
