The French Foreign Ministry says a humanitarian mission dispatched to Colombia for hostage Ingrid Betancourt will soon leave Colombia, following the rebels' rejection of their efforts.

The ministry said Tuesday that Spain, Switzerland and France - the three countries that had put the mission together - believe it is no longer justified to keep the mission in Colombia.

"It should therefore soon leave Colombia," the ministry said in a statement late Tuesday.
