What to do with burned-out CFLs? These energy-saving bulbs are not part of curb-side recycling programs, and if you're hesitant to put them in the trash, visit a recycling center. For a list of drop-off locations in Santa Clara County go to www.sccgov.org and follow these links: Agencies and Departments; 'E' for Department of Environmental Health; Hazardous Materials Compliance Division; and Household Hazardous Waste Home.

Compact bulbs, and straight, circular, spiral and U-bent tubes, will be accepted from households only at designated locations.
