When Sony’s PlayStation 3 came out last year, purists demanded and did not receive game controllers with vibrational feedback like those for the PS2 and the Xbox 360. This great wrong has been righted, however, with the Nyko 83009 Zero Wireless gamepad.
This industrial-looking unit, which buzzes in the player’s hand, replaces the standard-issue PS3 joysticks. It includes Sony’s Sixaxis technology for three-dimensional movement as well as vibration feedback on all games.
The $60 gamepad comes with rechargeable batteries and a long U.S.B. cable for charging straight from the PS3. It lasts 25 hours on one charge. You can also power the Zero Wireless with two AA batteries.
The device has backlit buttons for nighttime play and a plastic-metal hybrid case for comfort during long sessions. It comes in silver, black or white and is available online and in stores now.
Gamers everywhere whose hands quiver in anticipation of playing their favorite shooters and engrossing role-playing games can feel the power of vibration during the game.
