Washington freshman Troy Scott homered twice as the Huskies overpowered Portland 17-6 in a nonleague college baseball game Tuesday at Husky Ballpark.

Doug Cherry, Sean Meehan and Julien Pollard also homered as Washington (18-8) overcame a 3-0 deficit against the Pilots (14-15).

Scott, a 6-foot-5 first baseman from Auburn, finished 2 for 3 with three runs batted in. He hit a towering solo homer to right field in the fifth inning and a two-run shot to center in the sixth. Scott has four homers this season.

Another freshman, Forrest Snow (1-0), earned the victory in relief. The 6-6 right-hander from Seattle's Lakeside School allowed one earned run over three innings in only his second appearance this season.

Joey Dunn and Brian Pearl hit two-run doubles and David Bentrott had a two-run single for the Huskies, who made the most of their 13 hits against five Portland pitchers.

Cherry's homer was a two-run shot and Meehan's was a pinch-hit, three-run blast.

The Huskies open a three-game Pac-10 series against 18th-ranked Arizona at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Safeco Field. The final two games of the series are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Husky Ballpark.
