SNOQUALMIE — Frank Tassara tossed a no-hitter and Mount Si rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat defending state champion Issaquah 2-1 in KingCo 3A baseball Tuesday. Tassara, a sophomore left-hander, struck out 12 and walked four. But he trailed 1-0 after Issaquah scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, Danny Cavanaugh tied it for Mount Si with an RBI triple and scored the winning run on Zack Robinson's single. Tassara (1-0) has not allowed an earned run this season while striking out 22 batters in 13 innings for the Wildcats. Boys soccer • Sophomore forward Darwin Jones had a hat trick as unbeaten Mount Rainier beat Hazen, the defending Class 3A state champion, 4-0 in a Seamount League showdown. It was the fourth hat trick of the season — and fourth in the past five games — for Jones. He has scored in all but one game and has 18 goals already this season for the Rams (7-0-1 overall, 7-0 Seamount). David Lugo was in goal for Mount Rainier. • Jesus Cervantes had a hat trick for Highline in a 6-0 Seamount League shutout of Lindbergh. • Junior forward Evander Ochoa had a hat trick in Lakewood's 4-1 Cascade Conference victory over Archbishop Murphy. Baseball • Andy Scott's tiebreaking solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Bonney Lake to a 6-5 SPSL 3A victory over Auburn, the state's top-ranked Class 3A team.
• Auburn Riverside sophomore Sean Rehon went 4 for 4 with a grand slam and seven runs batted in as the Ravens beat Enumclaw 15-7. Fastpitch • Monroe's Jordan Birch struck out 17 in a one-hitter, but lost 1-0 to Cascade on an unearned run in the sixth inning. Kelsey Rutter of the Bruins fanned six in a three-hit shutout. Girls basketball • Lewis and Clark of Spokane, which went 29-0 on the way to the Class 4A state championship, was 14th in nation and fifth in the West in the final girls basketball rankings by USA Today.
