A man is being held for investigation of first-degree murder in a shooting in the Old Town part of Tacoma. Bail was set Tuesday at $1 million for 23-year-old John Arthur Richardson III, 23. He faces arraignment Thursday in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Eric Nevils of Spanaway. Richardson told detectives he fired a revolver after Nevils and someone else tried to rob him. According to documents filed in court, Richardson was arrested last Thursday night following a brief chase about half an hour after Nevils was shot. He was jailed initially on a state Corrections Department hold and on warrants accusing him of failing to appear in court to face driving-related charges. Officer Mark W. Fulghum says further investigation led to the murder charge. --- Information from: The News Tribune, http://www.thenewstribune.com Copyright © 2008 The Seattle Times Company
