Both sides have rested their cases in the first trial arising from a Bay Area steroids distribution ring that's been linked to slugger Barry Bonds. A federal jury is expected to get the case Wednesday of former elite cyclist Tammy Thomas. Like Bonds, she's accused of lying to a grand jury that was investigating the BALCO drug ring. The seven-day trial offered a preview of the government's case against Bonds. On the last day of testimony, Thomas' attorney Ethan Balogh called a single witness - her previous attorney. The lawyer testified that prosecutors never told her they had a problem with her 2003 grand jury testimony until she was charged in 2006. Copyright © 2008 The Seattle Times Company
